People of southern region of Kathmandu city including social activist, academicians, engineers, doctors, technical persons, executives inspired from the concept " What else than making people conscious" founded a group intended to establish an organization called Pharping Education Society. Then after a long discussion of the members of Pharping Education Society, came to a point to establish a Bachelor level college in Pharping. Then after a year, as T.U. advertised college registration form for bachelor's level program. We then came to know that it costs 1 million to register and establish a BA college. Rs. 10000 is required to buy a 4 page form and Rs. 12000 to submit it. Then we made a plan to collect Rs. 10000 from those individuals who are devoted to do well for the community. As a result, the plan succeeded and we were supported by 78 people from the community who then were honored as the founder members of the campus. This economic participation was one of the greatest of the southern region. We efficiently manage publicity of the campus, to affiliate the campus under T.U., etc.
After a long effort and homework. we were able to establish Shikharapur Campus, a unique model campus in 2062 BS at Pharping. Shikharapur Secondary School supported us by providing two classrooms, a room for library and an office room for free. Though we were planning to have our own building and physical infrastructures within five years we were able to have our own building in community land and resources with the great support of Share and Care Nepal along with the people of the community. As per our broader vision we expect to make it a common place to learn and share knowledge our team established "A School for Community." |
