Introduction: A School for Community (ASC)

"Community itself is a school where we can learn and share our experience as an open school."
A School for Community (ASC) is a not for profit non-government organization established in 2063 BS. This defines, "Community itself is a school where an individual or a group can learn and share their experience as an open school."

Its also affiliated to Social Welfare Council and it holds a private account number PAN as well. It is registered to work in 6 VDCs initially and holds right to work all over Nepal.

ASC is a concept of an open school for all those living in the community. Established in 2063 B.S., it is located at Sheshnarayan VDC-4, Pharping Kathmandu. ASC believes itself as a school where experiences are shared by and for community where an individual of the community can explain their views in the mass as a part of education. This is a concept to develop Pharping area as a school without walls. The students of social work, MBBS, ANM, Staff Nurse, Development Studies, engineering etc come to Pharping to fulfill their academic requirements which can be a good example of it as an open school.

ASC helps in creating a platform for various people from different sectors to share the skills and experiences as well as to be aware about social issues. It also seeks to transfer knowledge from one community to another.

Major Activities:

• Running Community resource center
• Running community library
• Operating educational institutes (school & college)
• Support women empowerment program.
• Run computer literacy program.
• Mobilize community groups.

Shree Ghyampa Devi Lower Secondary School

This school is 22 km south from Kathmandu and about 4 km far from Pharping. It is in Chhaimale VDC ward no-2, Simpani. It was established in 2034 BS as a small building made of stone and mud. Now there are two buildings with well ventilated rooms. T
